How are the vegetables packaged?
The organic produce is packaged in custom made wooden chests and they lie on a bed of neem leaves which have antibacterial properties. These chests are designed to provide the necessary protection and ventilation required by the vegetables and herbs.
Can I store the vegetables in the 21 O Chest?
No. Please refrigerate the organic produce on delivery to keep them fresh. The chest is not meant for storage.
Why do you have compartments and dividers in the 21 O Chest?
The compartments can be customised to fit the different shapes and sizes of various vegetables and herbs. The divider panels hold the produce in place, which reduce bruising during transit. You can unlock the divider panels by rotating them in anti-clockwise direction, and lock them in place by rotating clockwise.
Why not use a lighter material or plastic for packaging?
We aim to keep our packaging environment friendly and sustainable. Deodhar is completely natural material that is tough and keeps the vegetables safe. At the same time, it helps us eliminate the use of wasteful and harmful plastic packaging.
How are the 21 O Chests sanitised?
After every cycle, the chests are scrubbed using a solution of lime and salt. After drying, the chests are fumigated using Asafoetida (Heeng) sprinkled on burning coal.
How is a 21 O Chest disposed?
At the end of the cycle, the wood and the nails will be separated. The wood will be crushed and turned to mulch for our farm. The nails will be reused or recycled.
